Metro services were also disrupted for 15 to 20 minutes due to this incident. The woman has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
A woman jumped in front of a moving metro at Pitampura metro station in national capital Delhi with the intention of suicide. A 53-year-old woman was seriously injured after she jumped in front of a moving metro train on Friday afternoon, officials said.
Due to this incident, the service on Red Line of Delhi Metro was also disrupted for some time. The Red Line Metro runs from Rithala in Delhi to Ghaziabad (New Bus Stand) in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the news agency, an official said that the metro police received information about a woman jumping in front of a train at Pitampura metro station at 2.23 pm.
The woman’s right hand was amputated in the accident
The seriously injured woman has been admitted to the BSA hospital in Rohini by the metro staff. A team of police personnel took the woman to the hospital, the officer said. In this accident, the woman’s right hand was amputated.
The officer said that the woman is undergoing treatment at the hospital and her family members have been informed. Police are investigating further in this matter.
A senior DMRC official said the woman jumped onto the tracks at Pitampura Metro station on the Red Line at around 2.30 pm, causing a delay of 15 to 20 minutes, after which the metro service was restored once again.
