Earth is saved from a great danger. Asteroid 2024 RN16 left the Earth from a distance of only 16 lakh kilometers, today i.e. on September 16 at around 2.15 pm. That is, only four times the distance to the moon. The 110 feet wide stone had a speed of 104,761 km/h. It is an asteroid belonging to the Apollo group, which poses a threat to Earth.
This asteroid originates between the Earth and the Sun. So many times it comes very close to the earth. Asteroids of this group were discovered by Apollo in 1862. Hence it is named Apollo Asteroid. Their characteristic is that they cross the Earth’s path. If this 110-foot-tall asteroid had hit Earth, it would have wreaked havoc.
