The father of a junior doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital last month has requested the CBI to keep his daughter’s call records “safe”. According to sources, he told the CBI that he had spoken to his daughter on phone hours before her death.
In a letter to the CBI, the father requested to preserve the CCTV footage of the hospital, especially the CCTV footage of the seminar hall floor where his daughter’s body was found on August 9. A CBI source said that the father of the deceased has written to us requesting to preserve the call records
An official of the central agency told PTI that the letter, along with the status report of their investigation into the hospital rape-murder case, was shared with the Supreme Court during its hearing on September 17. In his two-page letter, the victim’s father expressed his helplessness and concern over the mysterious investigation into his daughter’s death.
The victim’s father has requested to CBI officials to seize the duty chart so that it can be known who was on duty with his daughter on the night of August 8. The parents also told the CBI that many hospital interns and doctors may be involved in this crime.
On August 9, a day after the doctor’s body was found with severe injuries, the Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer in connection with the case. On August 13, the Kolkata High Court had ordered the transfer of the investigation into the case from the Kolkata Police to the CBI. The CBI started the investigation from the very next day.
